At 2:30 in the afternoon, I got a message on TikTok.
«Hi! Are you in Todos Santos? We’d love to do a session… today 🥺» I smiled.
And honestly, that’s one of the reasons I love what I do.
By 4:30 PM, I was already hiking up Punta Lobos.
María José and José were in Todos Santos doing a road trip through Baja. They had driven from La Paz in a small camper Jimny, choosing adventure this time instead of the resort experience they had done on previous trips to Cabo. Someone had told them:
«If you’re in Todos Santos, go to Punta Lobos for sunset.»
So they did. And they decided to document it.
They had already started the hike when I arrived. I caught up with them on the trail, and we introduced ourselves while walking uphill. The path runs next to Hotel San Cristóbal, following a dirt road that gradually climbs toward the cliffs. It’s not a hard hike, but you definitely feel like you’re earning the view.About 40 minutes in (depending on your pace), the landscape opens up, red earth, deep blue Pacific, dramatic cliffs. It feels raw.It feels real. And that’s exactly what matched their energy.
They told me they had found me through one of my TikTok videos. a surprise proposal I photographed in Todos Santos.
That made the session even more special; Social media can feel random sometimes, but moments like this remind me it connects real people in real ways.
We started shooting around 5:10 PM. Golden hour was soft but powerful that day.
The sky had enough clouds to create depth, and when the sun started dipping, everything turned warm orange against the ocean. At one point, we spotted humpback whales breaching in the distance.
Nobody planned that.That’s just Baja.
They didn’t want stiff poses.
They wanted movement.
Personality.
She lifted him.
He lifted her while she showed her ring.
They laughed a lot.
We kept many of the shots wide because Punta Lobos isn’t just a background. it’s part of the story. The cliffs, the wind, the open horizon…
it all matters: of course, we captured a few closer portraits too. But they wanted to feel small against the landscape. in a good way.
The session lasted about an hour. We stayed until the sun disappeared completely into the Pacific and then made our way down as the light turned blue. Dusty shoes. Quiet smiles. That post-sunset calm.
Punta Lobos is perfect for couples who want something more than a beach photo. If you’re staying in Todos Santos. maybe near Paradero Todos Santos or Hotel San Cristóbal and you’re the kind of couple that prefers hiking boots over heels, this place just makes sense.
It’s private. It’s dramatic, and you earn the view together.
What I loved most about this session is that I genuinely felt connected to their energy. I like hiking. I like sunsets. I like camping. So photographing a couple who travels this way felt natural to me. It didn’t feel like work. It felt like documenting something honest.
From a 2:30 PM message to a sunset on the cliffs. Baja moves fast sometimes. And when you say yes to it, beautiful things happen. If you’re planning an engagement, Save the Date, or simply want to document your time in Todos Santos, I’d love to hike it with you. What’s your story?
