About Izrael Reyna

I’m Izrael Reyna, a photographer based in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. For over a decade I have been documenting weddings, families, couples, and milestone moments throughout Los Cabos and across Mexico, always with the same belief that a photograph should do more than look beautiful. It should take you back.

Photography found me before I found it. I studied graphic design, worked in hotels in Cancún, drew architectural plans in Guanajuato, and somewhere along the way I understood that what I was really chasing in every job was the same thing: the power of an image to communicate something that words cannot. In 2013 I moved to Los Cabos, and I have not looked back.

The Story Behind the Logo

In 2017, I needed to move. I had just gone through a painful breakup and I needed to find myself again  so I got on a bike and started pedaling. 2,800 miles across Mexico, three months, and a camera that never left my side. I was not running away. I was looking for something  and I found it in the landscapes, in the strangers who shared their tables and their stories with me, and in the emotions I was finally letting myself feel.

I photographed everything. Not because I was working, but because the camera gave me a way to be present in moments I might otherwise have let pass. When I look back at those images today, I am not just remembering a trip.  I am transported back to exactly who I was, physically and emotionally, at that point in my life. Fragile, free, and more alive than I had felt in years.

That journey taught me something I carry into every session I photograph: the moments that feel the heaviest are often the ones that matter most. A photograph does not just record what something looked like. It holds how it felt to be there. That understanding became the foundation of my logo and the reason I take this work as seriously as I do.

How I Work

My approach is natural and unhurried. I am not interested in perfectly arranged poses or expressions practiced in front of a mirror. I am interested in the way you look at each other when you forget I am there. the laugh that surprises you, the quiet moment between the loud ones, the details you will not remember but will be so glad to have.

Whether I am photographing a multi-day South Asian wedding at a Corridor resort, a maternity session on the East Cape at golden hour, or a family visiting Los Cabos for the first time my goal is always the same: to create images that feel true to who you are, in a place as extraordinary as this one.

Los Cabos is Home

I have lived and worked in Los Cabos since 2013. I know the light at Medano Beach in January and in August. I know which resorts have the best terrace for a first look, which stretch of the East Cape turns gold twenty minutes before sunset, and how the desert smells after summer rain. That knowledge is not something you can research, it comes from being here, year after year, with a camera.

When you book a session in Los Cabos with me, you are not hiring a photographer who flew in for the weekend. You are working with someone who calls this place home, and who photographs it with the same wonder as the first time, every time.
