She Said Yaas; A Surprise Proposal at Acre Restaurant, San José del Cabo
Some proposals are planned down to the last detail. Others feel like they happened exactly the way they were always meant to. Sean and Lisa’s story at Acre Restaurant in San José del Cabo was both.
Sean and Lisa’s story at Acre Restaurant was both.

A Plan from Chicago to Los Cabos
Sean reached out through my website while planning his trip from Chicago. He had a clear vision: he wanted to propose to Lisa right at the entrance of Acre, just as they stepped out of the iconic palm-lined walkway, that lush, cinematic corridor of desert palms and tropical vegetation that defines the experience of arriving at Acre.
There was just one challenge.
He had only been there once before, and didn’t fully remember the layout.

Scouting the Location
Since it was also my first time working at Acre, I went there five days before the proposal to scout the location.I walked the entire pathway, studied the light at different times, and identified the exact position where I could stay discreet. close enough to capture the moment, but invisible until the right second. This part of the process is something most people never see, but it’s essential. It’s what allows moments like these to feel natural, effortless, and real.
The Day of the Proposal
On the day of the proposal, Sean and I coordinated everything over WhatsApp.
Earlier that day, he sent me a couple of photos of them and what they would be wearing, so I could recognize them easily among other guests arriving for dinner. Acre is a popular spot in the evening, so timing and positioning mattered.
I arrived at 5:40 PM about 30 minutes early to be fully ready.
Sean had told me they would arrive between 6:20 and 6:40.
By then, the sun had just dipped below the horizon. The pathway lights were glowing softly against the dense vegetation, and the entire space had that calm, intimate atmosphere that Los Cabos gets right after sunset.

The Moment
When I spotted them at the far end of the walkway, I knew it was time.
They walked hand in hand through the corridor of palms.
Sean guided Lisa toward the entrance. right to the exact spot we had planned.
He stopped.
Turned to her.
And got down on one knee.
Lisa’s hand went straight to her chest.
She was wearing sunglasses, so I can’t say for sure if there were tears, but her smile said everything.
She said yes.
Actually… she said Yaaas.

Real, Unscripted Joy
A few seconds later, Lisa noticed the camera.
Sean turned to her and said, 'Izrael is our photographer.'
And then something happened that I’ll never forget.
Lisa looked directly at the camera and threw a shaka sign with her left hand, ring and all.
Whether it was intentional or not, it was perfect.
Spontaneous. Joyful. Completely real.
Those are the moments that matter most.

A Short Session, Designed with Intention
This was a short, customized session, less than 30 minutes total.
Everything was designed around the proposal and a few portraits right after, allowing them to enjoy their dinner reservation without interruption.
After the proposal, we moved toward the front of Acre, the tall cacti, the stone entrance, and the last blue tones of the evening sky, for a quick portrait session while the emotion was still fresh.
And that was it.
Simple. Meaningful. Complete.

Why Acre is a Unique Proposal Location
Acre offers something different from typical beach proposals in Los Cabos.
- A dramatic, palm-lined entrance
- Desert and tropical textures in one space
- Soft lighting at sunset and early evening
- A balance between privacy and atmosphere
It’s a perfect location for couples who want something intimate, but visually rich.
Final Thoughts
Sean later left a five-star review on Google, which I truly appreciate.
Moments like this are a reminder that it’s not about how long a session lasts.
It’s about being there for the exact second that changes everything.
